Guides 2002 - 2003

Philip
is the resident biologist at Bosque del Cabo.
He has been guiding at the lodge since April 2001.
This is his third stay in Costa Rica.
Originally
from the U.K., Philip graduated from the University of Portsmouth in 1979 with a
degree in Zoology/Geology.
He has three years research experience in some of England’s ancient oak
woodlands.
He lived in Norway for three years, engaged in forestry work.
His current research here concerns the diversity and abundance of both
bat and amphibian species.
Philip
is a qualified teacher and taught biology in the U.K.
He is also a qualified guide and has guided not only in the natural
world, but also in such diverse locations as Britain’s historic houses,
castles, and art galleries.
Philip has a life long interest in all natural sciences. He specializes in tropical ecology and has a wide ranging knowledge of the local flora and fauna along with their complex interactions.

Eduardo
was born on October 23, 1975 in Golfito, Costa Rica.
Since 1992 he has been working with various lodges and tour operators
here in Costa Rica.
Eduardo has had many jobs, including guiding, management, and food and
beverage manager.
His true love is working in the rainforests of this area.
He loves all wildlife, but especially birds.
He has had a lot of training in identification and observation of birds
and would love to take you birding.
Eduardo
has also had extensive training in tree climbing and canopy tours.
He worked many years on the tree platform at the Corcovado Tent Camp
before coming to work with us at Bosque del Cabo.
In
his free time Eduardo enjoys spending time with his family (which includes his
adorable young daughter Tiffany) and fishing.
He looks forward to being your nature guide and showing you the birds and
animals of the area and explaining the dynamics of the rainforest.
Mike
is British and was born on November 28, 1952 in Rawalpindi, Pakistan of Irish parents. His family moved soon after his birth to Trinidad
and Tobago, where they spent the next 13 years. It
was there that Mike acquired his fathers passion for snakes and alligators. Mike went through the secondary level of school in
Northern Ireland and graduated in Zoology from the University of Portsmouth, England. He worked for 8 years in the Ulster Museum in
Belfast, studying insects and bats. Mike was
Irelands first Batman! He established
and managed a tropical butterfly and reptile house in Northern Ireland for 3 years. He moved to Costa Rica in 1996 to work as a
naturalist/tour guide on the Osa Peninsula.
